1.IIM

Common Admission Test (CAT) is an entrance exam for admission to post graduate management courses in all the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) and various other management institutes. IIMs are undoubtedly the best management institutes in the country with a world wide reputation. Every year more than two lakh students appear for CAT and the competition is really tough for IIMs and the other reputed institutes. CAT aspirants start preparing for CAT much before the actual examination and often opt for specialized training.
Until last year CAT was a paper based test but from last time CAT has become a Computer based test that means a candidate will read questions and choose correct answers on a computer in the designated test centre. Also instead of a single day CAT will be conducted through a ten day window for different students where they will have different set of questions of similar difficulty level. Other than these there will be no change in the format of CAT.
CAT is one of the toughest exams in India. The Combined Admission Test is taken for to fill the vacant places of Six IIMs and few other top most B- School like SP jain, MICA, and T A Pai. CAT tests the skills of aspiring candidates in five steps each having broad areas. They are Verbal Ability and Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Skills, Data Interpretation and Analytical and Logical Reasoning. The questions which has been asked from these sections are based on objective type
From the past few years the number of question which has been asked in Combined Admission Test is decreasing continuously. In the year 1990 the no. of questions was in between 75 to 150, specifically CAT 1999 and 2000 had one hundred sixty five questions each. CAT 2001, 2002, 2003, had only one hundred fifty questions. These one hundred fifty questions had been divided in three sections, each section having fifty questions. The Combined Admission Test is of two Hours.  For the each right answer the candidates are awarded with half mark, One Mark or Two mark and for each incorrect answers one third marks are deducted from the total.
Availability of forms for CAT 2010-2011:
CAT vouchers will be available through selected bank branches by the end of August 2009. After buying the voucher candidates will be supposed to apply online. The voucher will be available for Rs. 1400 for general candidates and for Rs. 700 for SC/ST candidates. Admit Cards will also be sent by e-mail to the candidates which they will have to print.

Eligibility criteria:
For general candidates: A candidate should have got atleast 50% or equivalent CGPA in Graduation.
For SC/ST candidates: A candidate should have got atleast 45% or equivalent CGPA in Graduation.
Final year candidates who will complete their gradudation in 2011 can also apply.
Pattern of Examination:
CAT is of two and a half hours duration having multiple choice questions from the followng sections:
Data Interpretation and logical Reasoning
Quantitative Ability
Verbal Ability and Comprehension
Candidates are expected to perform well in all the three sections as there are separate cut-offs for individual sections as well. Each question has 5 options. A candidate gets 4 marks for a right answer and 1 mark is deducted for an incorrect answer.

2.MAT.
MAT is typically of 150 minutes with 200 questions to be solved. There is negative marking for wrong answers but the extent of negative marking is not known. There are 40 questions on each of the following topic :

English Usage
GK/GA/BA

XAT 2011 registration open XAT 2011 registration form and exam dates, XLRI has declared XAT 2011 exam dates students can get the prospectus by paying the fees in the modes provided below. Please read the complete advertisement for XAT 2011 exam.
XLRI Jamshedpur School of Business and Human Resource invites application for XAT 2011, and the academic Programme of XLRI, XAT scores will be used by more than 70 management institutes across the country for admitting students to different post graduate management courses of respective institutes. Candidates have to apply separately to XAT Associates Institutes after completing their XAT registration process.Candidates can choose to obtain XAT bulletin :-
a) From selected branches of Axis bank listed below or b) by sending a DD of or c) By making online payment using credit card/Debit Card/Net banking after online registration, from 1 September 2010 to 30 November 2010.
Step 1) XAT registration for admission test
Candidates interested in taking XAT has to first register for XAT at www.xlri.net.in After successfully completing the registration the candidate has to download the XAT pay-in-slip. A non refundable amount of Rs 900/- is to be tendered along with the pay-in-slip to obtain XAT bulletin 2011 from selected branch of Axis Bank listed below. The detachable form given inside the bulletin is to be filled up and sent to XAT office along with the XLRI’s copy of XAT pay-in-slip (i.e. signed and sealed by Axis Bank while buying the bulletin)
Alternatively, one can register for XAT after obtaining a demand draft DD a candidate has to first make a non refundable DD for RS 950 drawn in favour of “XLRI Jamshedpur A/C XAT” payable at Jamshedpur and  then register for XAT at www.xlri.net.in. He/she then has to send the XAT PP form (i.e. to be downloaded after registering for XAT) along with the DD to XAT office, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East),Jamshedpur-831001.
The XAT office will dispatch the bulletin to the candidate on receiving the form and the transaction receipt
Step 2:- XLRI registration for Academic Program(s) Offered at XLRI 
Two years Post Graduate Program in
1) Business Management (BM)
2) Human Resource Management (HRM)
Eligibility:- Candidates who have completed Bachelors degree of minimum 3 years or equivalent in any discipline in a recognized university or deemed university are eligible to apply. Those completing their final examination in 10 June 2011 may also apply.
One Year General Management Program
Eligibility:- Candidate must hold a Bachelors degree of minimum 3 years in any discipline from a recognized university or deemed university in India/Abroad. He/she should be employed in a full time and must have atleast 5 years of relevant Managerial experience as on 31 March 2011 after completion of Graduation.
Four Year Fellow program in Management
Eligibility:- Candidate should have masters degree or equivalent in any discipline with atleast 55% marks (50% for SC/ST  candidate) with a Bachelors degree/equivalent qualification with atleast 60% of marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) obtained after a min. Of 10+2+3 years of education or a professional qualification like CA/ICWA/CS with atleast 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) or BE/B.Tech degree or equivalent with atleast 60% of marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) and 2 years of relevant work experience

After registering for XAT, a candidate should register for XLRI’s programs at www.xlri.net.in. After successfully registering for XLRI the candidate has to download the XLRI paying slip. A  non refundable amount (refer table below for the amount) is the to be tendered along with the pay-in-slip to obtain XLRI prospectus 2011 from selected branches of Axis Bank.(listed below). Shanti Prasad Jain Advanced Management Research Centre: Shanti Prasad Jain Advanced Management Research Centre under the Faculty of Management Studies was established in 1982 to promote management research, education and training of managers, executives and academicians associated with the management discipline. It now looks forward to new Executive Development Programmes in Public Enterprise Management and Public Systems Management, Entrepreneurial Development, Strategic Management, Management of Services, Human Resource Development.

Master of Business Administration

The curriculum includes a range of courses that take advantage of new teaching methods and the reinforcement of basic skills and concepts. The intake of this programme is 90 students (with additional 9 seats for international candidates).

Eligibility Criteria
  1. Candidates applying for admission to the first year of MBA (Full-Time) Programme must have pursued at least a 3-year Bachelor's Degree Programme after 12 years of formal schooling in any of the following disciplines. The minimum requisite percentage of marks in different disciplines is as follows :-
    • Arts, Commerce or Social Sciences - 50%
    • Sciences - 55%
    • Mathematics or Statistics - 60%
    • Medicine, Engineering or Technology - 60% / CGPA of at least 6.00 in a scale of 10.00
    • Post Graduate Degree or 2nd Degree examination after 10+2+3 scheme, securing at least 60% marks.
    • Candidates appearing for the final examination of Bachelor's / Post Graduate Degree examinations may also apply.
  2. Candidates must be 20 years of age as on 1st of October of the year of admission.
  3. There is no reservation whatsoever for the graduates of Delhi university or the residents of Delhi.
Selection Procedure
Applications for admission to various programmes are invited through advertisements in major national newspapers in September/October every year. Application forms are distributed to interested candidates on payment of the application fees. The eligible applicants will be called for a written test, and on the basis of their performance in the test, they will be called for an interview, an ex-tempore and a group discussion. The candidates will be required to produce their original certificates and mark-sheets at the time of the interview. The final list of candidates selected to the program will be announced after conducting all the interviews.
